Who we are
SKJ APPS (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the developer of FinderCraft (“the App”), a native macOS utility that adds file operations, a staging Shelf, a keyboard shuttle, and batch image tools to the Finder. This policy explains what data the App does and does not process, and how any data is handled. If you have questions, email us at support@findercraft.app.
The short version
Your files stay on your Mac. FinderCraft has no analytics, no advertising, and no behavioral tracking. The only data that leaves your Mac is the minimum needed to check for software updates and, if you buy directly, to validate your license. When you get the App through Setapp, your purchase and account data are handled by Setapp as the merchant of record.
Your files stay on your Mac
FinderCraft does its work - moving, copying, renaming, comparing, tagging, and organizing files, staging items on the Shelf, and batch image operations - locally on your Mac. The contents of your files and folders, their names, and your directory structure are never sent to us or to anyone else. The App does not upload, index, or scan your drive for us.
No tracking or analytics
FinderCraft contains no third-party advertising, no usage analytics, and no behavioral tracking SDKs. We do not build a profile of how you use the App.
Software updates
When installed directly, the App checks findercraft.app for new versions using the Sparkle update framework so it can offer you updates. This reveals your Mac’s IP address and the installed app version to that server, and to Cloudflare, which hosts it. The update check carries no analytics identifiers and is not used to profile you. Only the main app updates itself, not the Finder extension. When you get the App through Setapp, updates are delivered by Setapp instead.
Licensing (direct purchases)
If you buy the App directly, then to activate and keep your license valid the App sends your license key and a privacy-safe machine fingerprint over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our licensing service. The fingerprint is a one-way hash derived from your Mac’s hardware identifier, truncated to a short code. It is not your name, hostname, username, or raw hardware id, and none of those ever leave your Mac. This confirms your license is valid and counts how many Macs it is active on (up to three per license). Your license is stored securely in the macOS Keychain on your own Mac.
If you obtain the App through Setapp, your entitlement is managed by Setapp and this direct licensing flow is not the purchase path you use.
Purchases and third parties
We do not process your payment details ourselves. Purchase and account data are handled by the merchant of record for the channel you buy through, each acting as an independent controller for that transaction:
Setapp / MacPaw. If you obtain the App through the Setapp Marketplace, MacPaw Inc. (Setapp) is the merchant of record. Setapp handles your account, subscription or purchase, billing, and delivery of the App under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive only limited, aggregated or non-identifying information from Setapp about installs or usage of our app on the platform, not your payment details.
Paddle. If you buy directly from us, Paddle.com is our merchant of record. Paddle collects the billing information it needs to take payment and handle tax (including your email address and country) under the Paddle Buyer Privacy Notice at https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy. We receive your email address and order details so we can deliver your license key and provide support.
If you buy directly, we use your email address to send your license key and essential messages about your license or the App. We do not sell your email address, and we do not send marketing you did not ask for.
How we use data
We use the limited data described above only to: deliver and update the App, validate direct licenses and enforce seat counts, deliver license keys, provide support, and meet our legal and tax obligations. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Data retention and security
For direct purchases, we keep order and license records for as long as needed to provide support and licensing and to meet our tax and legal obligations, then delete or anonymize them. Data in transit is protected with HTTPS, and your license is stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. Setapp and Paddle retain purchase and account data under their own policies.
Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, you have the right to know what personal information we hold, to request its deletion, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To exercise any right regarding data we hold, email support@findercraft.app; note that deleting your data may end an active direct license. For purchase and account data held by Setapp or Paddle, please contact them directly as the controller of that data.
Children
FinderCraft is a productivity tool and is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it last changed; material changes will be reflected on this page.
